Llanbradach Colliery
1894 - 1961

We don't have the data which tells us when work actually started on sinking the shafts at Llanbradach Colliery, but we know that by 1894 the mine was in full production.

Prior to World War One, when the mine's output was considered to be at it's peak, the colliery provided work for over 3,000 men.

Llanbradach was earmarked for closure in 1959 and in that year still managed to produce over half a million tons.
